  Szkola Podstawowa Nr 13 in Ruda Śląska is going  to be the coordinator of the project. We have already taken part in Comenius projects before. It was really a great experience for all pupils, teachers, parents, local community.

 Our school is located in industrial area, families are rather poor and the children haven't got the opportunity to meet people from other countries, speak in English and to travel abroad. Through project activities and visits they would gain the motivation to learn, chance to meet other people, get to know other cultures, broaden their horizons. Our school has also got the "Healthy school certificate" and is engaged in ecological activities.

 We are located in a single industry region with rather poor families but eager to meet new people and to learn from that experience. We have little LLP experience but we want to gain motivation for our students to involve themselves in creating lasting relations in Europe and to make them aware of other European cultures and civilizations. We have more than 900 students between 3 and 15 years and about 50 teachers.

Our school is located in İzmir. It is the third biggest city of Turkey, situated by the Aegean Sea. Our school includes primary and lower secondary levels. There are 832

students aged between 8-14 and 50 teachers who prepare them. We also have two special need classes with three teachers.

Bayraklı ,where our school is located, is in a disadvantaged area of İzmir. The majority of the population in this area have migrated from rural Turkey. So we have pupils from different groups. 

By taking part in this project, the pupils will be able to develop their social skills ,team confidence and also some practical skills such as ICT. They will have chance to meet their peers from different cultures of different countries. They will have the opportunity to broaden their horizons by working together , to be creative and to build a European dimension.

The present project will be based on interculturality.One of the main objectives to foster tolerance, not only students, but of the entire educational community, towards other races and cultures.

 If we take into account that the municipality in which the nursery and primary school Juan García Pérez is located, has a multitude of nationalities, the objective becomes even more important.Up to now different projects of interculturality which fostered respect for other cultures, had been developed in our school, however we have decided to go one step further and get to know these cultures in the first person,from the hand of our partners in the Comenius project. We are confident that the exchange of experiences, not only among teachers of different countries,but the children themselves,will be enriching for all.

Dimotiko Scholeio Livadion (KB) is a public school, the only one in the area. It is situated in the middle of the municipality of Livadia, a rapidly developing region. The community is about 5km east of the city of Larnaka which is the third in size town of Cyprus. Therefore, it is a suburban school in which approximately 200 pupils attend, ages 9-12.

Our school tries to get students involved in as many  innovative and creative activities as possible. It is in this spirit that the school decided to participate in a Comenius Partnership.  The students need to expand their horizons, get to know their own and other cultures and ways of living. Through the cooperation with schools in Europe, they will develop feelings of responsibility, empathy and respect. In addition, they will have the opportunity to research aspects of their history and culture, evaluate, appreciate and express themselves and the way they visualize the world round them. In that way, the project will motivate their learning will and broaden their views in a greater European context.

Axion private school is located in Xanthi in Northern Greece. Xanthi is a wonderful and picturesque town that combines the element of mountain along with the deep blue sea of Aegean. Furthemore, Xanthi is a multicultural town where Muslims and Christians coexist for many years. In our school there is a small minority of Muslim students who are integrated fully in the Greek educational system. Most of the children studying at our school are citizens of Xanthi, Komotini and Kavala. With regards to our schools they are private schools that include all  levels of education, from nursery to secondary school. AXION is a relatively new school as we are in our 5th year of operation. Our facilities are designed to offer the highest quality of teaching to our students (Photos of our school are available in the forum).

Our school is situated in the town of Vratsa, region in the northwest of Bulgaria at 100 km from our capital, Sofia. For the last 25 years the region has suffered economic problems and the level of unemployment has risen. This has made an impact on the social problems within the school. The school sees the project as a means of making the school attractive to pupils, teachers and parents and developing children's creativity and imagination.

Our goal is to provide children opportunity to get as much as possible in order to be ready for a multicultural society and have more chances to achieve more for themselves.

Our school, "Giovanni Paolo II°", is located in Gravina in the  East of Sicily. The number of students in our school is 500 with about 12 special needs students. Our school is in the suburb of Catania in an area characterized by a restricted group of poor socio-economic background and limited opportunities for young  people to meet, socialize and create socially valuable projects. So, our aim is to provide our school with a great chance to meet other teachers, let our students look at other social and cultural prospectives and resources.

 

 

 

 FRANCE                                                       Celine     

 

 

     Our school is located in a town in the north of Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. It is a french oversea territory, and a rather poor area. We have a majority of families suffering of unemployment, wich have difficulties to help their children at home, and have rather low education level. We  have to help families to undestand that school and education is important.
The local culture is based on the African, Indian, European, Muslim and Chinese origins of the population. Therefore , we are used to intercultural society but being a small island, in an area very far from Europe, the children and the families need to open on the outside world, to be curious and open minded. They have to  increase their knowledge of European culture.
Our school is a primary school with 280 children from 6 to 11, included 12 chidren having special needs.
This project will enable our team to develop motivation: through the different activities children, teacher and families will work to together,  increase their skills in English, ICT..., but also learn to use their knowledge, to develop their creativity,  in a project wich they will be proud to present and to share.
